Letter to the Editor: Statement on Israel

Dear Mariposa County Residents,

Israelis have feared this scenario for decades. Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli cities and towns and fired thousands of rockets indiscriminately into civilian populations. Hamas murdered and kidnapped innocent men, women and children. They murdered infants and the elderly. They raped and mutilated women. They paraded those bodies through the streets and in the media. Hamas is a terrorist organization whose leaders call for the murder of all Jews wherever they exist. There is no rational justification for Hamas’ actions and these barbaric acts of terrorism must be called out, and called out by everyone everywhere. Mariposa County Republican Central Committee calls on all of Mariposa County residents to speak out forcefully against Hamas and do whatever is in their power to urge the terrorist organization to return the innocent hostages to their families. Write your Senator, your Congress Representative, post on social and digital media, write your local newspapers. Hamas is an evil terrorist organization that cannot be tolerated. As Israel takes the necessary steps to defend its citizens in the coming weeks and months, media of all types will be overrun by misinformation spearheaded by Iran. We urge everyone to remember the horrific images that came out of Israel and do not fall for their propaganda nor spread the misinformation. Our thoughts are with all those experiencing these unbelievable acts of terrorism, those living in fear and those enduring the horrific violence. It is our strongest hope that one day Israel and Palestine will, someday, live in peace.
